Yemeless Haecceity

Ask me anything   me: a round peg in a square hole

this blog: my way of collecting beautiful things, and sometimes not so beautiful things. And sharing some of my beautiful things, or not so beautiful things.

Yemeless, adj. - Negligent and careless

Haecceity, n - The aspect of existence on which individuality depends; the hereness and nowness of reality. The sense one gets of being in the present tense, the pure experience of a single moment in time.

"She wore her sexuality with an older woman’s ease, and not like an awkward purse, never knowing how to hold it, where to hang it, or when to just put it down."

Zadie Smith, White Teeth (via yemelesshaecceity)

I still think this is one of the greatest sentences ever written.

"Oscar Wilde said that if you know what you want to be, then you inevitably become it - that is your punishment, but if you never know, then you can be anything. There is a truth to that. We are not nouns, we are verbs. I am not a thing - an actor, a writer - I am a person who does things - I write, I act - and I never know what I am going to do next. I think you can be imprisoned if you think of yourself as a noun."

is there a diplomatic way to tell someone that they’re a fucking moron? asking for a friend

You, sir/madam, would be more of a wonderful human being if it weren’t for your benighted and uncultivated view of the world.
